Watch this heart beating OUTSIDE of a body thanks to new transplant method

This incredible video shows a fully functional heart beating outside of a human body.
The new ‘heart in a box’ keeps donor hearts alive after being taken from a body, meaning they can remain usable for much longer before being placed in a patient’s body.

The method is expected to save thousands of lives, and has already helped bring a young father back from the brink of death.

Lee Hall, 26, was diagnosed with heart failure aged 14 and had a medical pump fitted to keep him alive.

However recently the pump cables became infected, and Lee was told he needed to find a donor within two days or he would die.

Incredibly a donor was found, and the heart was kept alive using the new method, allowing for a successful transplant and Lee’s survival.
